The Dartmoor Run 2005
Dartmoor Run – Ford’s and More, On The Moor!!
Following on from the success of last year’s event T.A.C.O. (Tamar Area Capri Owners Club)
have held a second Dartmoor Run, which took place on 24th April. Other participating clubs
included The Duchy Capri Club (who turned up in a Sierra!!), The Dreamers of Exeter and the Devon/Cornwall Branch of the Ford Cortina Owners Club (only one member, but a least she was in a Cortina!!).
The Run started from the Meadows, Tavistock with 25 cars assembling in Bedford Car Park.
Entrants were taken on a mystery tour of Dartmoor ending up at The Dartmoor Inn in time
for lunch. Entrants also sponsored member Lizzie Hann who is running a Marathon in New York
(see "News" page) in November to raise money for the “Get Kids Going” Charity.
The convoy departed at 11.00am and drove in procession to Yelverton and onto Dartmoor
via Burrator Reservoir. The route took in all the spectacular natural beauty of Dartmoor, whilst passing though Princetown and Postbridge, then past the Warren House Inn, through Widecombe, then Dartmeet, before finally finishing at Merrivale. The weather for the most part blessed us with sunshine, although there was a brief and heavy April shower. This years victims included the Vanden Plas belonging to one of the “Dreamers” which overheated, and organiser Paul Hann’s Capri, which had problems with fuel supply and had to be recovered by the RAC!!
TACO would particularly like to thank Tavistock Town Council for allowing use of the Meadows car park as starting point for this years run. Thanks are also extended to Paul Hann who has organised and timed the route, and the marshals without whom this event could not have taken place.
