Owner: Guy Massey

Model: Mk1 GT XLR

Colour: Aubergine with Black Vinyl Roof

Year: 1969

Engine Size: 1.6 Litre.

Transmission: 4 Speed Manual.

History: This car was acquired at the end of 2004 having been dry stored for several years. Any area that had been attacked by tin worm had been repaired then sprayed with red oxide primer by the previous owner. The bodywork will be prepared shortly and restored back to its original finish and it is hoped that it will be returned to the road during the first half of 2006.

Modifications: Although it is essentially un-modified, the previous owner added a large number of period accessories to it.These include sun-strip, radio, full width rear-view mirror, oscillating fan, rally pedals and wheel, a hand carved gear knob, padded seat covers, grille badges, RS style front bumpers, spoiler and a brass surround to the boot lock!

The Future: Much of this car was in good condition, however investigation has revealed that previous body repairs needed to be done again, and the floor pan had suffered very badly in storage. Rather than patch and cover up, the decision has been made to cut out these areas and replace with new metal. Where repair panels cannot be found at reasonable cost these areas will have to be fabricated. The first job has been to strip out the car completely and remove the glass. The floor pan has been repaired, but the search for parts goes on. The vinyl roof has also been removed and corrosion found treated.
