Owner: Guy Massey

Model: Mk3 Cabaret II

Colour: Originally New Red Metallic over Silver, now Diamond White

Year: 1983

Engine Size: 2.0 Litre.

History: This car started life as a New Red over Silver Cabaret.

I acquired in the middle of 2004 after she had been used as a publicity vehicle for "Frankie Goes to London". It was parked up in a residential area of london, looking much the worse for wear, with a holed radiator and a bad oil leak. The MOT still had several months to run and the Tax was valid so a road-side repair was effected and the car driven back to Devon.

Modifications: Replacement engine in December 2004 with K&N filter and four branch manifold. Five speed gearbox. Interior now Black with white stripe from an "S" and laser alloys fitted.

1983 - 2003 - Incarnation No. 1, "Cabaret II"
The Cabaret illustrated belonged to TACO member Andy in 2004
and shows the red over silver colour scheme. This car was fitted with a MkII grille.
I have no pictures of the "FRANKIE" car as it was, perhaps you can help?

2004 - Incarnation No. 2, "Frankie"
In "Frankie" guise the car had been driven by Page Three model "Sasha", a friend of Katie Price, so who knows "Jordan" may well have also ridden in her! Sasha very kindly posed with the car (fully clothed) before I drove it back.

2005 - Incarnation No. 3, "Ottery Press Publicity Car"
In this guise, the car appeared at a number of events and was seen out and about in the South West. Then early in 2006 the car was vandalised in broad daylight on a Saturday afternoon. She was badly "keyed" all down the passenger side, right through vinyl, paint and into metal. This was treated but was unsightly so the decision was taken to put her away for a while for a rest.

May 2007 - Incarnation No. 4, "Back to white"
Once again the vinyl has been removed and the body is being prepared, this time for a wedding at the end of July.
Pre MOT checks revealed tin-worm in the floor pan. The effected areas have been cut out and replaced with new metal.

June and she has passed her MOT!!! The only thing required was handbrake adjustment and a number-plate light. The last week of the month is to be spent prepping the body ready for a coat of paint. A thin red over silver pinstripe will be applied to complete the exterior and (hopefully) the car will be taxed and on the road for 1st of July.

July 7th and "Frankie" is road legal at last. The outside is almost complete. To celebrate, she was taken to Powderham Castle for their annual Classic and Vintage show. She performed faultlessly except for the fuel gauge which had a mind of it's own!
Now for the interior, the wedding is only three weeks away!!!

July 10th and the interior is complete. The S side cards were retained, they compliment the 80's Recaro check seats. You can overdose on check very easily and the side cards dilute the overall effect nicely. The feel is nicely bridal and goes well with the white exterior. A sun roof deflector has been added. This serves two purposes, firstly it deflects the air should the sun roof be open, and secondly it provides a great anchor point for the white ribbon!!! With Frankie now complete all that remains is lots of elbow grease, hopefully this will be well illustrated in the next set of pictures.

July 28th The Wedding & Mary's first sight of the car! She appeared thrilled. Her father rode in the back and she was in the passenger seat on the way to the church. Mary really wanted to drive, but her dress and my insurance wouldn't let her! Ben didn't see the car until after the service, you can see the disbelief in his face, this turned to incredulity as we left the church to a chorus of Frankie's 5-tone air-horns! Tough luck Ben, you've married a Capri fan, "for better or for worse", and you will just have to buy her one now!
October 6th Another wedding! Guy was unexpectedly approached by Dan, who was to be the best man at his friend Rob's wedding. Rob had told Dan that he wanted to arrive at his wedding in a Ford Capri and Dan rose to the challenge. The result was "Frankies" second wedding of the year... could this be the beginning of a new career for her? The bride, Rachel turned up in a lovely old Bentley which sported a Rolls Royce grille and an Alvis Owners Club badge (there has to be a story there). Following the wedding she could not resist posing with the Capri, could she be a new fan in the making???
