CCI Nationals 2007TACO has never attended a CCI show before, mainly because of the distance members would have to go. This year though the club's two intrepid travellers, Barrie and Guy set off in their 280's early on Sunday morning, Evesham bound. The forecast rain did not arrive and the duo met up at Exeter Services, and planned their route. Guy stated to Barrie that he would stick to 70mph all the way up the M5 to junction 9. Arriving at Badgers Hill at just before ten. Barrie's first words were "I thought you were going to take it easy!" to which Guy retorted "I did!" It seems that the Brookie's speedos were reading at least 10mph different. There were an incredible array of Capris including about 20 Brookies (they're as common as muck you know). The auto-jumble was huge, but also quite expensive, just about anything Capri was available, from locking wheel nuts to entire body shells. Several parts were sourced and put away in the cars before the display cars were admired. There were in excess of 100 Capris. Incredibly one South East Club had three cars on its stand, two of which had been owned by Guy! One of them was the Laser that was used at the 2005 TACO show for the egg and spoon event! Her new owner has applied a stunning paint job given her a new interior and a major engine overhaul, check out the pictures. CCI's HQ is impressive and a range of on-going projects were on display, together with past shows "specials" lined up military style as gate guardians. All too soon it was time to head South again, Barrie's turn to lead, this time at a registered (boring) 60mph! |
